Security sources said a police sergeant was shot injured in al-Fayoum, southern Egypt, al-Bawaba News reported Wednesday. The sources said the victim, Mustafa Ayoub, was shot near his village where five terrorists were killed last week. A security cordon was imposed around the scene. The whole area was combed for fear of other potential threats. Ayoub was transferred to the nearest hospital for treatment. Since the ouster of Muslim Brotherhood rule, July 2013, a series of terrorist attacks targeted police and army personnel, claiming hundreds of lives.
