Armed forces succeeded Friday in thwarting an attempt by Wilayat Sinai militants to detonate an improvised explosive device (IED) of which they planted on the international road near an army checkpoint, south the city of Arish, northern Sinai governorate. Security sources who spoke on condition of anonymity to Sada El-Bald News, said that Wilayat Sinai militants have planted the IED near an army checkpoint in Al-Midan area and Al Masaeeden neighborhood in order to target army personnel. However, the sources revealed that the army was able to locate the IED and successfully detonate it without any casualties or injures. The armed forces have searched the area for any potential security threat.
