The Islamic State-linked Wilayat Sinai group on Thursday claimed in a statement on Twitter its responsibility for the missile attack that hit a vessel affiliated to Egyptian coastguards off Rafah's coast in the North Sinai. The terrorist group released photos of the terror operation on jihadist forums on internet affiliated with the group. Concerns over the growing weaponry and tactical capabilities of Wilayet Sinai have been on the rise, following the group's coordinated assault on 15 military checkpoints in North Sinai, leading to day-long fighting which left more than 100 militants and 17 soldiers dead.. Sinai based Wilayet Sinai –formerly known as Ansar Bayt Almaqdis- pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (IS) in November 2014, and has been receiving logistic and military aid from the IS ever since, according to reports. Wilayat Sinai, claimed responsibility for the series of simultaneous attacks targeting army bases in Arish, North Sinai, leaving dozens killed and hundreds injured.
