Security forces have launched Tuesday an extensive campaign to capture terrorists and fugitives in the cities of Arish and Rafah, as well as Sheikh Zuweid, in North Sinai governorate, El Fagr newspaper reported. The security forces killed eight terrorists and arrested five others dduring their attempt to carry out terrorist operations against the nilitary forces and the police. The forces also destroyed 47 hideouts belonging to the terrorists and the bomb squad successfully dismantled four improvised explosive devices in South of Sheikh Zuweid. Meanwhile, a security source who asked to remain anonymous told the newspaper that army apache helicopters stepped up its patrols in the region, in search of armed and dangerous militants. The source added that the helicopters targeted a number of bicycles, vehicles and hideouts belonging to terrorists. This comes after a group of terrorists attempted to target a police checkpoint in South of Sheikh on Tuesday morning, amid unprecedented security alert in anticipation of any new terrorist attacks that might take place in the evening. President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi has been trying to revive the country's economy, after the June 30 Revolution, which led to the ouster of president Mohamed Morsi, the leading member of Muslim Brotherhood (MB) terrorist group. The country has been living in a state of political turmoil and security vacuum as a result of MBs' targeting of state institutions, army personnel and policemen, especially in northern Sinai.
