UNICEF representative to Yemen, Julien Harneis said in a statement Saturday that armed groups in Yemen are recruiting children to guard their checkpoints and facilities, Al Bawaba News reported. Harneis added that the Yemeni rates of recruitment and use of children increased dramatically, pointing out that 318 children have been recruited in armed militias this year compared to 156 children last year. She added that the number of children who were killed in Yemen during the past ten weeks is four times more than the total number of children killed during the past year. Yemen has been living under increasing chaos since the Houthi insurgents' military coup against the Yemeni government and their seizing of large swathes of the country.
