The Syrian Air Force carried out 21,173 airstrikes on various provinces in the last eight months, Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported Saturday. The Observatory stated that Syrian helicopters dropped 11,324 barrel bombs on Rif Dimashq, Aleppo, Homs, Hama, Al Hasakah, Deir Ezzor, Al Quneitera, al- Suwaydaa, Daraa, Idlib and Lattakia. It added that Assad's warplanes launched at least 9,849 airstrikes on Damascus, Rif Dimashq, Aleppo, Homs, Hama, Al Hasakah, Deir Ezzor, Al Raqqa, Al Quneitera, Daraa, Idlib and Lattakia. SOHR also documented that 3,602 civilians were killed in Assad's airstrikes including 582 women and 831 children due to aerial bombardment carried out by the regime warplanes and helicopters, pointing out that 23,000 other civilians were wounded. It reported that 1,816 Nusra Front, Islamic State, rebel and Islamic battalions' fighters were killed in Al Assad's regime airstrikes. The conflict in Syria has evolved from a purported revolution to a civil war during the summer of 2012.
