Egyptian security sources said bomb disposal experts defused Friday three improvised explosive devices (IEDs) planted near a cell site in Al-Qusseya, Assuit province, Al-Bawaba News reported. The bombs, containing gunpowder, nails and some electric wires, were defused by water cannons, the sources added. Police have swept the whole area in anticipation of other potential threats. Since the ouster of MB president Mohamed Morsi July 2013, a string of deadly blasts across Egypt claimed hundreds of lives, mostly among police personnel. Electric pylons and cell sites have been repeatedly targeted as well.
