Egyptian security sources said they defused Saturday eight improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the Upper Egypt province of Aswan, south of Cairo, Al Bawaba News reported. The IEDs were planted near pylons by the side of a desert road, the sources added. Bomb disposal experts were deployed to the scene. A security cordon was made for further protection, the sources added. Egypt has been home to a series of deadly blast claiming hundreds of lives, particularly in the Sinai Peninsula, since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi amid mass street protests.
