Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov announced Saturday his country's intentions to provide unconditional military aid to Egypt, Iraq and Syria, to help eradicate terrorism and eliminate the threat of Islamic State (IS), Al Bawaba newspaper reported. The Moscow Times newspaper wrote that the move showed the world a major difference between Russia and other countries, which ignore the Arab countries' fight against terrorism and do not send them weapons or equipment. The newspaper quoted Lavrov as saying: "Iraq, Syria and Egypt are at the forefront of the fight against terrorism, so we will try our utmost to meet all of their possible requirements, in order to enhance their ability to defend themselves and to drive terrorists out of their lands." Lavrov's comments came during Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al Abadi Haider's visit to Russia, where he asked for urgent military aid to save Baghdad from falling under IS control.
