Wilayat Sinai terrorist group threatened to target the military troops and security forces in a 20-minute video published YouTube. One of the group's militants appeared in the video giving a speech to his fellow militants. He incited them to kill who he described as "infidel" soldiers. The video showed one of the militants who was preparing explosive devices and car bombs, vowing to target army and police personnel daily in the name of "jihad". It provided footage for several terrorist attacks against Egyptian security forces in Sinai for which the group claimed its responsibility on April 2. This video came after days of the military announcement that the Egyptian army had killed 725 militants in North Sinai during the last six months. The statement published on Samir's Facebook page read that the army had arrested 1873 suspects in military ground operations, and seized 12 explosive belts, four rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), 164 machine guns, six anti-aircraft weapons and 19 homemade bombs. The statement added that the military, in different operations, had destroyed 1823 hideouts, 591 vehicles and 1447 motorcycles without license plates. Since September 2013, the Egyptian army has been carrying out an ongoing military campaign against terrorist groups in Sinai after they claimed responsibility for deadly attacks targeting Egyptian army and police personnel.
