The statement published on Samir's Facebook page stated that the army launched several raids targeting militants' posts in Sheikh Zuweid, Arish and Rafah. He revealed that 61 suspects were arrested during a number of military ground operations and 17 bombs were defused. The statement added that the military has destroyed 32 hideouts, 22 vehicles, two car bombs and 76 motorcycles without license plates. Since September 2013, the Egyptian army has been carrying out an ongoing military campaign against the Sinai-based Wilayat Sinai terrorist group, formerly known as Ansar Bayt Al Maqdis, after it had claimed responsibility for several attacks targeting Egyptian military and police personnel.
