Military spokesperson Mohamed Samir announced Sunday that Egyptian army has killed 43 terrorists in North Sinai in separate attacks since March 17. The statement published on Samir's Facebook page stated that the Egyptian air forces have launched several raids targeting militants' posts in Sheikh Zuweid, revealing that 87 suspects were arrested during a number of military ground operations and 8 bombs were defused as it was targeting military checkpoints. The statement added that the military in different operations has destroyed 16 hideouts, 42 vehicles, 53 motorcycles without license plates. Since September 2013, the Egyptian army has been carrying out an ongoing military campaign against the Sinai-based Wilayat Sinai terrorist group, formerly known as Ansar Bayt Al Maqdis, after it had claimed responsibility for several attacks targeting Egyptian military and police personnel.
