Political parties coalesced Monday behind the unified draft initiative, including Al Mustaqbal and Socialist Popular Alliance parties, Al Bawaba newspaper reported. Head of Al Mustaqbal party, Yasser Kora told the newspaper that the initiative was not too late. He explained that there is time for consulting on the parliamentary elections law, drafting the law according to the constitution, submitting it to the President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi for approval and then conducting the elections. However, Kora predicted that the upcoming elections will not be conducted until October, even if it was adopted according to the current law, highlighting that there is no reason to halt discussions on the electoral law, despite its adaptation. He urged the government to keep the dignity of political parties, claiming that political order around the world is based on consultation between the parties and governments, and not ignoring them. Meanwhile, Head of Socialist Popular Alliance party, Abdul Ghaffar Shukr, criticized the press for what he claimed as accusations of lack of agreement between the parties as the main reason behind the delay in amending laws and holding elections. Shukr told the newspaper that the initiative is a mean to respond to these accusations, highlighting that the parties can agree with one another and produce a unified draft law. He added that this step shows the people that parties can help the government pass this critical phase. The initative is a mean to coordinate between the government and parties to conduct the elections in a constitutional fair matter.
