Egyptian courts resumed Tuesday the trials of Muslim Brotherhood (MB) members across the nation over violence and terror related charges, media reported. Cairo Criminal Court will resume the trial of 68 MBs accused of forming a terrorist cell to target the police, army and Christian minority in an attempt to overthrow the current regime. Alexandria Criminal Court will resume the trial of eight MB members accused of involvement in the violent incidents that occurred in the Montazah district in 2014.
Minya Criminal Court is also scheduled to hear witness testimonies in the cases of 119 MBs accused of fueling violence in Samalut. Al Sharqia Criminal Court is due to issue a verdict for 64 MBs, including MB leader Amir Bassam, a fugitive from justice, as well as ousted president Mohamed Morsi's nephew Mohamed Saeed, accused of inciting violence in the Zagazig University. The Mansoura Military court resumed the trial of four MB-affiliated students and a college professor, accused of organizing and participating in an illegal protest. The defendants also face charges of inciting violence, rioting, raising anti-police and army banners and possession of explosive devices.
