Considering the PM-parties talks as fruitless, a number of Egyptian political parties and blocs are holding alternative meetings on the electoral districts law, sources reported on Saturday. The proposals emanating from the talks will be submitted to the Election Amendment Committee, spokesperson for the Future Party (under formation) Ahmed Hosni told Al Bawaba News. Hosni added his party had invited a number of jurisprudents, including Yahia Al Gamal, Ibrahim Darwish and Mahmoud Kebishall, as well as all other parties to wade in. "Our sessions will discuss all the laws governing the upcoming parliament, not just the ones being challenged or controversial constitutional terms," Hosni added. In the same context, the four-party Egyptian Front Coalition downplayed the value of the PM-parties talks. "We will never attend any more dialogues with the government", Al Geel Party president Nagi Shehaby said, adding that they had already submitted their suggestions which the government was free to scrutinize. Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab has already held three consecutive social dialogues with 11 parties on the controversial electoral districts law, with no consensus being reached. Egyptian parties have voiced growing concerns over the government's possible interference in favor of certain candidates, accusations rejected by Mahlab. "The coming polls will be the best ever, they will be completely transparent," he declared during the talks' last session on April 9. Egypt's parliamentary elections come as the last step in the July 3 roadmap declared in the wake of former President Mohamed Morsi's ouster amid mass street protests.
