The Sallum border crossing, in western Egypt, received 117 Egyptians fleeing the turmoil in Libya, Al Bawaba News reported Friday. Head of the Matrouh Security Directorate, Gen. Al Anany Hamouda confirmed that number of returned nationals had reached 117 Egyptians during the past 24 hours, 96 of which are holders of valid visas while 21 had entered Libya illegally. "Egyptian authorities are taking the necessary measures to grant them a safe journey home," Hamouda said. The total number of Egyptian Nationals that have returned from Libya has reached 35866 since February, following Egyptian airstrikes on terrorists' strongholds in Libya, in retaliation to the execution of 21 Egyptians by IS militants.
