Fayoum Criminal Court sentenced Tuesday 12 members of the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group (MB) to life in prison over charges of joining a terrorist group, cutting roads and assaulting state facilities. The first defendant was sentenced extra five years in prison for possessing publications inciting violence and calling for disrupting the Constitution, while the second defendant was sentenced for one additional year in prison for possessing an unlicensed weapon (pocketknife). On October 6, 2013, the defendants participated in a protest in Fayoum supporting ousted president Mohamed Morsi and denouncing then interim government led by Hazem Al Beblawy. Large numbers of defendants affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group are being tried over different charges including inciting chaos and illegal demonstration.
