Fourteen Arab royals and presidents met Saturday in Sharm El Sheikh to discuss to discuss the recent developments across the Arab world, especially the Yemeni, Libyan and Syrian crises. Head of the 26th Arab Summit, President Abdel Fatah Al Sisi announced in his speech the formation of a joint Arab military force to defend the Arab states and preserve the peace and unity of Arab territories threatened by terrorism and violence. Diplomatic sources said the resolution contains 10 articles including boosting peace, security and stability of the Arab League member states, without interfering in their the domestic affairs, through protecting democratic governance and respecting human rights and international laws. The resolution seeks to provide post-conflict reconstruction to Arab states, and counter terrorism. Moreover, the resolution addresses precautionary strategies against the dangers faced by Arab countries, and taking appropriate collective action against any assault by an Arab state against another, in accordance with the Mutual Defense Treaty provisions. The summit discussed the establishment of Arab peacekeeping forces, including military and civilian personnel stationed in their original countries, to be financed by the budget of the Arab League General Secretariat, under the supervision of the General Secretary.
