The Syrian Revolution General Commission (SRGC) confirmed Monday that opposition fighters seized the town of Bosra in Daraa province alongside a number of key areas, according to MENA. The SRGC stated that its forces managed to kill a number of Al Assad's troops, including an Iranian officer. "Fierce battles are still taking place with the regime's forces, after they received military and logistic aid at the town of Bosra," opposition fighters told Al Arabiya Tv channel. If opposition ranks manage to seize control over the whole town, they will secure the southeastern countryside of Al Suwayda province, according to the channel. Syria-based Ahrar Al Sham militant group, announced that it joined forces with Suqour Al Sham group, in a move that would threaten the growing influence of Al Nusra Front, Al Qaeda branch in Syria, Sky News reported. The two groups released a joint statement stressing on the urgent need for unity to expand the group's influence in the northwestern province of Idlib, especially after Al Nusra Front has overrun key areas in the region. Ahrar Al Sham is one of the major militant groups operating in Syria, along with the Islamic State and unlike Al Nursa Front, which has lots of foreign fighters in its ranks; most of Ahrar Al Sham leaders are Syrian.
