Iraqi authorities say a series of bombings targeting public places and police have killed 11 people around Baghdad. Police officials said the first of Sunday's attacks happened when a car bomb exploded in a parking lot in the town of Mahmoudiya, 30 kilometers (20 miles) south of Baghdad, killing three people and wounding 15 others. Later on, a bomb blast in a commercial street killed three people in Baghdad's northern suburb of Husseiniyah. Another blast in a town just south of Baghdad killed two people and wounded nine others. Police said a roadside bomb missed a police patrol in eastern Baghdad, killing three civilians. Medical officials confirmed the casualties from all attacks. All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to speak to journalists.
