Yemeni President, Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi announced during a meeting with government officials in Hadramout province Saturday that the city of Aden is the capital of the country. "Aden became the capital of Yemen as soon as the Houthis occupied Sanaa", Hadi said. During the meeting, Hadi pointed out that the five provinces from six rejected the Houthis coup, adding that Houthis controls Azal province, which includes Sanaa, Amran and Saada. After Hadi resigned from office in January, the Houthi rebel group announced on February 6 that they had dissolved the parliament and installed a "presidential council" to run the country in the face of a power vacuum, as well as releasing a constitutional declaration of 16 articles, including the formation of a new parliament of 551 members to replace the dissolved parliament. On February 24, Hadi had sent a letter to the House of Representatives to withdraw his resignation.
