Head of the Fishermen's syndicate, Ahmed Nassar confirmed Wednesday the release of 21 Egyptian fishermen held in Libya by Fajr Libya extremist group. Nassar said the efforts of foreign Ministry have paid-off and the fishermen will return home within hours, adding that the Libyan authorities are coordinating with Egypt to guarantee the safe return of the fishermen to their families who contacted them telephonically today. On its part, Egypt's Foreign Ministry confirmed that the 21 fishermen from Kafr el-Sheikh province will return home unharmed. Minister of Agriculture, Adel Al Beltagy affirmed that the fishermen were safe, as he congratulated their families on their release, according to state television. The fishermen were abducted by Fajr Libya militants upon their entrance into Libyan territorial waters, late January.
