The fishermen Syndicate head in Kafr El-Sheikh, Ahmed Nasar said Friday that Libyan authorities represented by Benghazi‘s coast guard detained 49 Egyptian fishermen. Nasar added that the fishermen are accused of penetrating the Libyan territorial waters and illegal fishing, pointing out that they were on their way to a fishing trip in the waters of the Mediterranean island of Malta. Moreover, he called the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to communicate with the Libyan authorities to release the fishermen and return them safe to their families.
