Three hundred out of 1200 Egyptian fishermen working in the Libyan port of Misrata have returned home safely after spending four days at sea, the Head of the Fishermen's Syndicate in Kafr El-Sheikh, Ahmed Nassar, said Friday. Nassar said that the 300 fishermen arrived at Rashid Port Friday morning after escaping from Libya aboard 10 fishing boats. The unstable security situation in the country had forced them to leave. Nassar said the voyage between Misrata Port and Rashid takes four days. He noted that the fishermen's families were expecting them to arrive on Thursday, but they had arrived on Friday because of the bad weather. Nassar urged the Egyptian security agencies to take the necessary measures to secure the release of the Egyptian fishermen who were still being stranded, as soon as possible. Libya has been witnessing serious armed clashes between the national army and a number of extremist Islamic militias and this has resulted in the seizure of hundreds of Egyptians in the past few months.
