The Muslim Brotherhood (MB) denied the claims of its responsibility for kidnapping 22 Egyptian Christians in Libya, claiming that Libyan general Khalifa Haftar, commander of Tobruk government's troops, could be involved in the incident. The Egyptian Copts were captured in Sirte near of Benghazi, one of the main strongholds of Tobruk government, spokesperson for MB-linked Freedom and Justice Part, Ahmed Ramy, said on Facebook Sunday. Ramy added that Haftar's troops are heavily deployed in Sirte, excluding the Islamist groups' capability of kidnapping the Egyptian Christians there. A group affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) has posted what it claims are photos of 22 Egyptian Christians in their online magazine. In response, Egypt's President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi said that Egypt would begin airlifting Egyptian nationals from Libya.
