The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned Sunday night theYemeni Houthi rebels constitutional declaration, describing it as a 'coup'. OIC Secretary-General, Iyad bin Amin Madani said that this 'coup' threatens peace and stability in Yemen as well as international peace and security. Madani called on the International Community to support the decision of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, in rejecting the Houthi 'coup' due to its violation of international resolutions, according to them. On February 6, the Houthi rebels announced that they had dissolved the parliament and established a "presidential council" to run the country in the face of a power vacuum. The group released a constitutional declaration of 16 articles, including the formation of a new parliament of 551 members to replace the dissolved one.
