Yemen's Houthi group announced Friday they had dissolved parliament and installed a "presidential council" to run the country in the face of a power vacuum. In a statement issued by the group they announced a constitutional declaration that consists of 16 articles including the formation of a new parliament of 551 members to replace the dissolved parliament. The declaration also included a presidential council of five members determined by the Parliament, which should be followed by the formation of the government that will be selected by the Presidential Council of Yemen. The five-member presidential council will form the transitional government to govern for two years. The Houthis stressed in the declaration on good-neighborliness and not to allow anyone outside Yemen to interfere in the internal country's affairs. "This is a new era that will take Yemen to safe shores", the statement read. Last month, The Houthi separatist movement took over the presidential palace after a battle with the army that left 15 dead and over 100 injured.
