Egypt blocks American scholar from entering country
A U.S. scholar and former diplomat who has been critical of Egypt's government said Saturday that she was barred from entering the country while trying to attend a conference.
Michele Dunne, a senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, arrived in Cairo at the invitation of the Egyptian Council on Foreign Affairs but was turned away at the airport, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Chadian President Idriss Deby on Sunday called on his Egyptian counterpart Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi to take further measures to stabilize Libya, with which his country and Egypt share borders.

Egypt's president thwarted deal to return IDF soldiers killed in Gaza war
According to the Israeli Haaretz, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sissi hindered a deal between Israel and Hamas that would have returned the bodies of missing Israeli soldiers from Operation Protective Edge, Israel Radio reported Sunday, citing a London-based newspaper.
According to a report in Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, Western diplomats said that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had asked Sissi to persuade Hamas to return the bodies of Oron Shaul and Hadar Goldin. In exchange, Israel would reportedly ease the blockade of the Gaza Strip.

TOURISTS FINALLY COME BACK TO EGYPT
During the third quarter of 2014, tourism authorities reported a 70 percent increase in the number of foreign tourist arrivals in Egypt. Cairo recorded a 50 percent rise in hotel occupancy regarding foreign tourists.
The massive increase in tourism in the country has been brought forth by Egypt's recovering economy, which serves as the country's economy backbone. In essence, the economy recovery started during the second half of the year. According to the Egypt Operations for Hilton Hotels vice president, Mr. Christian Muhr, the recovery was attributed to the immense beach resort bookings over the holiday seasons. In addition, the recovery can be as well attributed to the lifting of travel advisories by a majority of the European countries, such as Germany, Belgium and Italy.
