Ever since the emergence of the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), the Iraqi government and its forces, the Syrian opposition and the Kurdish fighters, along with the Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad's forces have been swept aside. There is no doubt about ISIL's power and will to conquer lands and achieve the goals set by its leader Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi, as it has already proved its strength and power by seizing large parts of Syria and Iraq. But, ISIL's achievements are down to the International community's negligence to the bloodshed in Syria between the Syrian opposition and Al-Assad's forces, which provided time for ISIL to establish and prepare itself secretly for its assault on Syria and Iraq. Furthermore, its unique approach to the social media boosted its growth exponentially, as it is the first terrorist organization to focus on social media in spreading its message across the globe, including uploading videos of its massacres on YouTube, which in turn attracted massive audience, which helped a lot in recruiting large numbers of foreign fighters, including women. Moreover, the foreign fighters that answered ISIL's call have American, British, and French citizenship, which highlights the failure of their countries in tackling ISIL's crisis, the same crisis that if dealt with sooner wouldn't have grown to be a national security crisis that torments these countries. However, the international community has finally acted; the United States of America has decided to form an international coalition that consists mainly from its allies, such as France and the United Kingdom. They agreed on confronting ISIL through air strikes operations, training Kurdish fighters, and providing them with weapons. But, these steps proved to be inefficient and ineffective, as it didn't bare any results, except for only succeeding in slowing ISIL's advance, which is not the international coalition's goal, as its goal is the destruction of ISIL. This failure sends wrong messages to the international community, as it can be translated as weakness or as a lack of seriousness, which in turn encourages ISIL to continue its advance and further strengthen its forces. Whereas, Turkey's reluctance to join the international coalition and play a role in the fight against ISIL, unless it is guaranteed that the efforts to eliminate ISIL will also target Al-Assad, although ISIL is now knocking at Turkey's doors, helps make matters worse, which in turn gives ISIL the opportunity to further boost its stand. This reluctance compelled the United States of America to question Turkey's stand on ISIL, as Turkey's vague strategy in dealing with ISIL is a matter of concern to the United States of America. Even though, Turkey has recently agreed to train moderate Syrian opposition fighters, but without giving details about the procedure or even affirm that the training process will take place on Turkish soil. Also, Iran won't accept Turkey's demands of including Al-Assad in the efforts to eliminate ISIL, as Iran is a firm supporter of Al-Assad's regime, which excludes any hope of a cooperation between the long lasting allies Turkey and Iran, which in turn kills any chance of a cooperation between old foes Iran and the United States of America. Especially, when there is still mistrust between the United States of America and Iran thanks to the Iranian nuclear ambitions of developing nuclear bombs and weapons. Subsequently, Turkey refuses to allow the international coalition's air force to carry on air strikes missions that target ISIL from its military air bases, which creates some sort of doubts at the American camp, concerning Turkey's intentions and view of ISIL. Eventually, this leads to a lack of coordination between the US led coalition and Turkey, which in turn leads to the absence of the results that are intended to in the fight against ISIL, which further helps ISIL to affirm its stand and even push forward for more gains. Then, there is the matter of confusion of the American administration in dealing with ISIL, as the administration itself has admitted that it has no particular strategy to confront ISIL. And that is clearly visible to the naked eye, as there are voices in the congress demanding the deployment of American soldiers on the ground, highlighting that it is the only way to finally defeat ISIL, whereas officials in the white house refuse such an idea, stating that the image of America has suffered enough during the Iraqi war. Plus, since the US has started creating the international coalition, more terrorist organizations have been announcing their alliances to the ISIL, thus resulting in the enlargement of ISIL's threat more than ever, which in turn makes eliminating ISIL a more difficult task to achieve than its already is. And even if and that's a big if, the US led coalition succeeded in eliminating ISIL, there might be two scenarios, one is that the terrorist organizations would back down and learn from ISIL's lesson, or take their revenge upon the international community, thus risking the loss of more innocent lives. Finally, the advancement of ISIL is extremely difficult to stop, and the proof to that, its strong assault on the Kurdish-dominated town of kobani, which is near to the Turkish-Syrian boarders. Furthermore, ISIL is starting to be self-sufficient thanks to its seizure of the Iraqi and Kurdish oil, meaning it can now buy its own weapons and supplies, which makes it very hard, if not impossible to beat it. Moreover, the lack of effectiveness of the coalition's air strikes that target ISIL is a clear message that air strikes won't get the job done, let alone supplying the Kurdish fighters with weapons and training them. And Turkey's reluctance doesn't help make the situation any better. The US must understand that in order to defeat ISIL it will need all the help it can get, so the US must seriously consider cooperating with Iran, which is a very influential country in this cause, because of its excellent relationship with Al-Assad, both being Shia. And as a plan B, the US must also consider deploying soldiers on the ground, in case the US failed in cooperating with Iran in the fight against ISIL. Then, and only then, will the US led coalition might have a chance to defeat ISIL and bring an end to its terror.
