Horoscopes:
Hero of the hour
By Imhotep
With the Olympic games in Athens gripping the world's imagination, Imhotep gazes at the skies to decipher the key astrological happenings that are destined to create the most compelling sporting moments.
The stars promise boundless success for Crabs, as people born under the Cardinal Water sign of Cancer (22 Jun-22 Jul) are sometimes called. Watch out for the Cancerian sprinters and swimmers at the Olympic games -- they'll work wonders.
American swimmer Michael Phelps will emerge as the very embodiment of such runaway Cancerian success. Thanks to the stars, his bid to create Olympic history by winning eight gold medals will surely be crowned with success.
The chances of winning a gold for Scottish swimmer Rebecca Cooke, another lucky Cancerian, look good. She'll pleasantly surprise fans and confound critics.
After a hectic August, the usually contemplative Crabs should have the time of their life in September, thinking about absolutely nothing and casually sampling the simple joys of life.
September heralds the dawn of a new beginning for Cancerians. As the month progresses, they'll discover that the little children they used to be are still inside them. Crabs will break out of their shells, and crack their own pincers. Cancerians shall revel in the happiness that the month will bring their way. The positive energies will be highlighted, giving Cancerians the chance to exploit to the full forces of love and life.
If you are feeling flush my dear Lions, as people born under the Fixed Fire sign of Leo (23 Jul-22 Aug) are sometimes called, it is because the stars bring good tidings. Lions have a knack for inspiring others. People admire their strength of character and purpose. And, Leonians will take full advantage of their good fortune in September to win even more admirers. Enemies will tremble at the roar of the Lions in the weeks ahead.
The stars predict promising prospects for African-American Sprinter Maurice Greene, at the cusp of Cancer and Leo -- his birthday is 23 July and so he must read forecasts for both Sun signs.
The strength of character of Lions will shine through the month of September. Their exuberance will almost be impossible to quell. They shall lead lives that best suit their active and care-free nature.
The clock is ticking for Virgoans as people born under the Mutable Earth sign of Virgo (23 Aug-22 Sep) are called. A time bomb is waiting to explode. Only you can diffuse it. Don't panic my dear Virgoans. You simply must accept that you cannot always face the stresses and the strains of your job. Sometimes in life one needs a break.
So, take it easy. Drink some herbal tea and take lots of deep breaths. Maybe it is time to get out of the rat-race and go work on a farm or become a lifeguard on some remote stretch of beach. It's not a long-term solution, but it's well worth a try for a while.
Wise Virgoans have already escaped to deserted beaches, deserts or mountain wildernesses. Away from the crowds, Virgoans will be in touch with their deeper emotions.
Britain's black heptathlon star Denise Lewis, a Virgoan, instinctively understood the importance of taking stock -- which is why she took her disappointing performance in Athens in her stride.
African-American sprinter Lauryn Williams, another typical Virgoan, should be heading for a hideaway after the competitive Olympic games. She should also not count on getting a gold medal, unless of course, either her Ascendant or Moon sign is Cancer.
Virgoans are rarely born to rule the roost. Indeed, Virgoans instinctively know that they must never lead the parade, but they also know that people often solicit their advice. People will come to you, my dear Virgoans, for counsel this September.
Virgoans do not always know how to go with the flow. They often find themselves excluded from the prevailing dynamics because of their rigid principles and principled stands. Eagle-eyed Virgoans are critical by nature. But they also like to give credit where credit is due.
So Imhotep urges Virgoans not to appear inconsistent at this all-important juncture. People will listen attentively as you pronounce judgement in the weeks ahead.
Look out next week for Imhotep's reading of Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius
