UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova is on a five-day visit to Egypt that commenced on Tuesday. On her first day she visited the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) praising the quality of the restoration work. Bokova is to open the country's largest exhibition hall, recently refurbished, at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilisation (NMEC). She met with President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi on Wednesday and presented him with a series of valuable books concerning Islam's rich historical legacy published by UNESCO.
