"50 Years of Art", is the newest exhibition of paintings by gifted artist Georges Selimcurrently on display at Salama gallery in Mohandeseen. The exhibition showcases the entire oeuvre of the artist which he created in a career that spanned half a century. His art saga began in Italy where he studied at the hands of major Italian artists in the European schools of art. Later, Selim settled in Aswan that used to be a place of gathering most of the artists from the North and the South. He displays around 40 paintings using guashe, oil and polyster as his basic artistic medium. Selim is extremly infatuated by using the figure of the animal as a recurrent motif in most of his production such as horses, cats and tigers. Animals are brilliantly depicted in the painting within a comprehensive artistic frame as if they are in a struggle with nature for survival. Colours play a crucial role in his works, colours are Selim's means to deliver the idea he wants to reach without imitating nature. He designs paintings for touristic areas in Egypt, a country which he adores and resides in with all his passions. The exhibitionends 20 February.
