ª His Beatitude Theodoros II, the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa, paid a visit to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, where he received the second lot of restored and digitalised manuscripts from the treasures of the Patriarchal library. During the function, Theodoros II met the staff of the Manuscripts Centre of the library and was fully briefed on the progress of the work and the challenges of the restoration procedure. He congratulated the staff on their professionalism and asked them to speed up the work. Present at the function were the Consul-General of Greece in Alexandria Christos Kapodistrias and the Honourable Chairman of the Hellenic Community of Alexandria Ioannis Siokas. Pope Theodoros granted Ismail Serageldin, the director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, a carbon copy of the geography book of Ptolemy to be among the library's rare acquisitions.
