Ahly's defender Abdel-Fadil doubtful for CAF Super Cup game Ahly's Sherif Abdel-Fadil is a major doubt for the African Super Cup game against Sfaxien after suffering a knee injury during Friday's training session
Ahly defender Sherif Abdel-Fadil could miss Thursday's African Super Cup game against Tunisian side Sfaxien after injuring his knee during training on Friday. "Abdel-Fadil trained individually ... after suffering a knee ligament injury," read a statement on the club's official website on Friday. African Champions League holders Ahly are set to host Tunisian side Sfaxien, who won the Confederation Cup, on 20 February in Cairo. "Abdel-Fadil is doubtful for the Super Cup game, according to the medical staff's assessment," the statement added. Ahly have been hit with a string of injuries to their key players recently. The absences took their toll on the Red Devils' displays as they lost twice and drew once in their last four Egyptian league games. The 30-year-old, who has been out of action lately due to a knee complaint, was expected to feature in Saturday's Egyptian Premier League game against Gouna but he is now facing another spell on the sidelines after aggravating his injury. Ahly are the record holders of the African Super Cup with five titles under their belt. They beat Sfaxien 2-1 in the same competition in 2009.
