Arab Contractors spurn chance to go clear on top of Egyptian league Arab Contractors miss the chance to go two points top of the table following Ahly's draw
Arab Contractors missed out on the chance to go two points clear on top of the Egyptian Premier League table after being held to a frustrating 1-1 draw by El-Entag El-Harby on Wednesday. Failing to capitalize on Ahly's goalless draw with Ittihad a day earlier, Contractors were pegged back by a brilliant free-kick from forward Bassem Morsy, who cancelled out top-scorer Mohamed Farouk's 28th minute opener. The draw meant that Contractors remain level on 16 points with Ahly at the summit of Group A but the former are ahead on goal difference. Elsewhere, newly-promoted Ragaa claimed their second win of the campaign after snatching a late 1-0 victory over Dakhleya. Dakhleya, who beat Ahly 1-0 earlier this month, were undone by a penalty from midfielder Tamer Mohib four minutes from time, lifting Ragaa to eighth place of the league standings. Smouha claimed their 16th point of the league to share top spot with Ahly and Contractors after registering a 2-1 comeback victory over ENPPI away from home. The visitors went two goals ahead through Ghanaian frontman Samuel Owasu and Ahmed Hamoudy on 62 and 65 minutes respectively before Nader El-Ashry pulled one back in the 73rd minute. The Alexandrians, who played a game less than Ahly and Contractors, now lie third on goal difference. http://english.ahram.org.eg/News/94096.aspx
