Ittihad El-Shorta went to the top of the Egyptian Premier League after claiming a 2-0 home win over Smouha on Tuesday. The hosts could not break down Smouha in the first half, but scored twice in the second to claim all three points. Khaled Abou-Kamar opened the scoring in the 67th minute and Saied Kamal wrapped up the win with two minutes remaining as El-Shorta built on their opening 2-1 win over El-Entag El-Harby. Masry, who also bagged an opening victory, could not follow suit after being held to a 1-1 draw by Talae El-Geish. El-Geish took the lead four minutes after the restart, thanks to a goal from striker Salah Amin but Masry's Ayman Saied secured a share of spoils with a 67th minute goal.
