Preview: Zamalek hoping to bounce back against Gaish Egyptian Premier League Week 4 kicks off on Tuesday with Zamalek aiming to get back on track against Gaish
After slumping to a 1-0 defeat to Ismaily, title-hopefuls Zamalek will be hoping to bounce back from their home loss when they meet Talae El-Gaish on Tuesday in their fourth match of the Egyptian Premier League season. Zamalek made an auspicious start to their league campaign, beating Port Said-based Masry 2-0 at Suez Stadium. A dismal display against rivals Ismaily, however, saw the cup holders lose at Cairo Stadium to slip to fifth place in Group B with three points from two games. Even so, Zamalek manager Helmy Toulan refused to blame his players for the defeat, stressing their opponent's defence was too solid to break. "Ismaily defended well and closed down space after taking the lead. It was difficult to penetrate such a solid defence," Toulan told Zamalek's official website after the game. "I refuse to hold the players responsible for the defeat and I'm sure we can bounce back and remain in contention for top spot." The absence of stalwart keeper Abdel-Wahed El-Sayed and winger Hazem Emam continues due to injuries. The international duo have yet to make a single appearance in this campaign with El-Sayed out with a knee problem and Emam still nursing a groin injury. Both teams enter the game level on three points, with Zamalek securing a single win and Gaish achieving three successive draws. Earlier on Tuesday, newcomers Minya will host promotion-fellows Qanah at Tersana Stadium, with only one point separating them. Qanah drew twice and are eighth in Group B, whereas Minya are seventh on three points after causing a major upset in the league opener – beating Haras El-Hodoud 2-1. In a bottom-of-the group encounter, Haras El-Hodoud will be seeking their first win of the season when they take on Beni Suef Telephones, who are also win-less on a single point but have played a game less. Ismaily will be hoping to cement their position on top of their group when they play fourth-placed Ittihad El-Shorta. The match will see the league top-scorers face off as El-Shorta's Khaled Kamar will be looking to add to his three-goal tally to equal Ismaily's Ghanaian frontman John Antwi's four. All matches will take place on Tuesday.
