Film Clinic, the production company behind Ahmad Abdalla's latest endeavour, Farsh w Ghata (Rags and Tatters), has announced that the award winning and highly anticipated film will be screened in cinemas in Cairo and Alexandria — but only for one week.
Following the critical success of his first two films, Heliopolis and Microphone, Farsh w Ghata has been making festival rounds in the past months, and has been gaining strong recognition from juries, critics and audiences alike.
Most notably, the film won the highest prize of the 35th International Mediterranean Film Festival of Montpellier: the Golden Antigone. Farsh w Ghata has also screened in this year's Toronto International Film Festival, and was part of the London Film Festival's official competition and the Narrative Competition at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival.
The film follows an escaped fugative after the Egyptian revolution who wanders the streets of Cairo's poor neighbourhoods.
Programme:
Farsh w Ghata will screen according to the timetable of each cinema for one week starting Wednesday 20 November
Nile City Cinema, Bandar Mall Cinema, Wonderland, RenaissanceDandy Mall, Americana Plaza, Renaissance San Stefano (Alexandria) and RenaissanceCarrefour (Alexandria).
