Ahmed Elmohamady has revealed that he is proud of representing Egypt in Europe by playing for a big club like Sunderland and he will do his best to live up to their expectations. "My permanent stay with Sunderland makes fans in Egypt very proud by watching an Egyptian player playing in Europe," Elmohamady was quoted as saying on Sunderland's official website. The Black Cats have taken up the option of buying Elmohamady who is on a season-long deal at the Premier League side. The fleet-footed winger has been on impressive form on both the domestic and international stages, earning a move to Sunderland, for whom he has appeared regularly this season. The 23-year-old is included in the Egyptian national squad for their game against South Africa in the 2012 African Cup of Nations qualifiers on Saturday. Elmohamady is now one of two Egyptian players – along with Dortmund's striker Mohamed Zidan – playing in top European Leagues, following Amr Zaki and Ahmed Hossam ‘Mido's return to Zamalek after having several stints in Europe. "Not many Egyptian players play outside the country and it is good for the people in Egypt to see their players playing in Europe,” he added. “This is what they hope to see and it's very good for the game in Egypt.”
