Elmohamady rejects Arsenal for Sunderland The Black Cats make the move to keep their Egyptian Sunderland winger, Ahmed Elmohamady, permanently, despite reports suggesting he's going to Arsenal next summer
Several English Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and West Brom, have reportedly stepped up their interest in signing Egyptian star Ahmed Elmohamady next summer, but he asserts that he wishes to stay at Stadium of Light. “I would like to stay with Sunderland in the summer, if the manager wants to sign me,” Elmohamady was quoted as saying to Sunderlandecho newspaper. The 23-year old wrote his name on the wall of fame of English football, delivering an outstanding performance since his arrival on a season-long loan from Egyptian side ENPPI. “There has been other interest in me – three other clubs that I know about in England and abroad, but I am not interested in going anywhere else. I want to come to Sunderland,” Elmohamady revealed. The Black Cats have informed Elmohamady's boyhood club, ENPPI of their intentions to convert the winger's loan deal into a permanent contract next summer for a £2million fee. “I like playing here at Sunderland and I am happy. I have good relationships with my teammates: I know the manager and the fans very well” the Egyptian added. Sunderland hasn't won in eight games and is six points clear of the relegation zone in 13th.
