Egypt's Kahraba targets move to top European club Mahmoud Kahraba targeting championship medal with Switzerland's Luzern then move to top European league
Promising Egyptian midfielder Mahmoud Kahraba has revealed he is eager to win the Swiss league with Luzern then join a top European team next season. Kahraba scored his third goal in as many games on Saturday as Luzern claimed a 1-0 league victory over Lausanne. The 19-year-old intercepted a short headed pass by a Lausanne defender to find the net at the second attempt after his initial shot was parried by the keeper. He also scored in his first two matches for Luzern - a 2-0 victory over Zurich and a 1-1 draw with Young Boys. "I hope to score my goals as soon as possible as I am eager to win a title with Luzern then join a top league," Kahraba was quoted as saying by Swiss newspaper Blick on Sunday. Kahraba joined FC Luzern last summer on a one-year contract and the club has an option to extend his stay until 2017. He moved from Egyptian club ENPPI, which won the Egypt Cup in 2011. He caught attention internationally during the Youth World Cup and the African Championship in which the Young Pharaohs defeated Ghana in the final. He is the third Egyptian player in the Swiss league alongside Mohamed Salah and Mohamed El-Nenny who play for FC Basel. Kahraba was part of Egypt's squad for the Ghana clash in the first leg of the World Cup qualifying playoff. However, he was kept on the bench as the Pharaohs were hammered 6-1 in Kumasi. Luzern are second in the Swiss league table with 22 points, three behind leaders Basel.
