Egypt's Elmohamady ‘not emotional', says Hull City coach Hull City boss Steve Bruce believes Ahmed Elmohamady will have no difficulty getting over Egypt's embarrassing 6-1 defeat by Ghana in a World Cup playoff
Hull City coach Steve Bruce believes Ahmed Elmohamady will not be affected by the stern criticism Egypt faced following a humiliating 6-1 loss at Ghana in the first leg of the World Cup qualifying playoff on Tuesday. The Pharaohs' hopes of ending a 24-year wait for a World Cup appearance have all but ended after they were demolished by a powerful Ghana side. Right winger Elmohamady started on the bench before being introduced on the stroke of halftime, replacing Hossam Ashour after the defensive midfielder was injured. However, he made little impact as Ghana ran riot to virtually secure their place in next year's World Cup finals in Brazil. Elmohamady's Hull teammate Mohamed Nagy ‘Gedo' was kept on the bench. “It'll be a big, big shock for them to lose to six to Ghana because Egypt are usually a very good side,” Bruce was quoted as saying by Hull Daily Mail. “We'll see how they are. Usually Elmohamady is a level-headed sort. He's not the emotional type. They'll have been lambasted in Egypt, don't worry about that, so we'll see what state of mind he's in.” Elmohamady and Gedo are in line to take part in Hull's Premier League game against Everton on Saturday.
