Zamalek's Ultras White Knights march to High Court The Whites hardcore fans won't accept any condolences until they see who killed their fellowman Amr Hussein appears in court
Zamalek's Ultras White Knights (UWK), the football club's hardcore fans, organised a march to downtown Cairo's High Court to protest the death of one of their members last week. Amr Hussein, an 18-year-old member of the White Knights, died in the hospital 23 September after sustaining a gunshot wound during clashes on 19 September between group members and security forces. Hundreds of UWK members gathered Monday evening at the High Court headquarters Monday evening lifting photos of Hussein and also banners demanding prosecution for those who killed him. "There are still beasts in our country who kill young people who love football," the crowds chanted. The UWK had stormed the club's headquarters, which is located in the Mit Okba district near Mohandiseen, following a protest demanding changes in the club's top management. Mainly angry at the football team's poor run, the fans reportedly torched a number of buildings inside the club. Hussein was seriously injured when clashes ensued between security forces and the Ultras members. The Ultras members have been demanding the resignation of club chairman Mamdouh Abbas and head coach Toulan for "failure in leadership" following the team's inability to qualify for the CAF Champions League semi-finals. The group said in a recent statement that they will not accept condolences for Hussein until justice to be served.
