Ahly will host arch rivals Zamalek in Sunday's CAF Champions League group stage tie in Gouna, the Cairo giants announced late on Monday. The African tie was recently left in limbo as Cairo giants, Ahly, failed to secure a venue for the highly anticipated game. Security forces declined Ahly's request to play at Borg El-Arab or Difaa El-Gawi stadiums because of security concerns, in order to avoid confrontation with the clubs' hardcore fans, who will want to attend the game. Ahly officials have faced some resistance from the management of the Gouna stadium, located on the Red Sea, as the team's supporters clashed with each other and used fireworks extensively during the AC Leopards game on 31 August. "Gouna stadium officials have agreed to host the match, but behind closed doors. We would like to thank them for accepting our request," the head of Ahly's football department, Hady Khashaba, told the club's official website. Ahly, who have seven points after four rounds, will play Zamalek in an attempt to secure their passage to the semi-finals of Africa's elite competition. After four rounds, Ahly are level with South Africa's Pirates with seven points at the top of Group A, three ahead of Congo's AC Leopards and Zamalek, who both have four points each.
