Art Alert: Artists to emphasise feminine side of Egypt on stage Cairo's Rawabet Space to host a 3 part visual performance by Egyptian artists who will act out Egyptian social transformations, focusing on women and femininity, on Monday 29 July
Rawabet Space for Performing Arts will bring a three-part visual performance titled, "The NUT Trilogy," to audiences in Cairo on Monday. The performance is directed by dancer Hazem Header, a graduate of the Faculty of Physical Education and a performer himself. He first appeared on stage in a number of projects such as "It's not even Tuesday" and "I'm not done." Header will be the choreographer for Monday's show. The project will include nine female performers (eight dancers and an opera singer). Named after "Nut," the Egyptian goddess of the sky, the performance is, according to the description of the act, is "about and for women." The aim of the project is to focus on the angle of femininity in Egyptian society. The description of the performance mentions that for decades the feminine side in Egypt has been subjected to oppression, leading to the shift from a matriarchal society to a patriarchal one. The performance will try to capture this transformation.
