Art Alert: Al-Darb Al-Ahmar percussion to perform at El-Genaina Theatre On Saturday 22 June, percussion students will be giving a show in Al-Azhar Park under the leadership of English band Stomp
El-Genaina Theatre will host a percussion show performed by students of Al-Darb Al-Ahmar Arts School on Thursday 20 June. The concert is outcome of a workshop given by the British band Stomp to the students of the school, who specialise in percussion instruments. The multi-talented percussion sensation Stomp band is known for delivering energising physical theatre performances which utilise garbage cans, matchboxes and more to create sounds filled with hard hitting beats, in addition to electrifying stage shows. In collaboration with Aga Khan Trust for Culture and Al-Fanar Foundation, Al-Darb Al-Ahmar Arts School was initiated by Al-Mawred Al-Thaqafy, aiming to teach young students of both genders circus arts and music. Opened in 2011, the school enrolled about 100 students ranging from 8 to 16 years old, teaching them instruments, languages, computer, social studies, in addition to providing them with health and social care.
