Darb Al-Ahmar Arts School for Children (DAAS) at Aslan Square celebrated the end 2012 with a concert which included Egyptian symphonies mixed with oriental jazz performed by its young students. The students' contribution to the concert on Sunday 13 January included the music they play during circus performances by their fellow students. The school is funded by Al-Mawred Al-Thaqafi in collaboration with the Agha Khan. It trains children from the local neighbourhood, aged 6 to 18, in circus arts and music. The school runs an impressive two‐year certificate programme for underprivileged children, providing them a space for creative expression. The project aimstoopen upnew businessesfor local children and youth in the artsand creative industries, as well astoraiseawareness of art in the community.
