Ahly to request Bizertin stadium switch Security concerns prompt Ahly to request change of venue for African Champions League match with Tunisia's CA Bizertin
Ahly will ask the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to authorise a change of stadium for their match in Tunisia against CA Bizertin in the CAF Champions League round of 16. They want the match to be played in Rades instead of Bizerte due to security reasons. The match already faces an uncertain future after Bizertin reportedly suspended all football activities. The club is protesting the football association's selection of Club Africain to qualify for the last stage of the domestic league instead of Bizertin, even though both share second place in the table with equal points. CA Bizertin fans have rioted in the streets of Bizerte. "It will be difficult to protect Ahly throughout the game in Bizerte," Ahly board member Hesham El-Said told the club's official website on Thursday. The Tunisian club is due to host the Cairo giants on 21 April in the round of 16 first leg in Bizerte. "We will ask the CAF to change the match venue from Bizertin to Rades stadium. We hope this action won't affect the positive relationship between the Egyptian and Tunisian sides," he added.
