Brazilian duo Ronaldo, Leonardo on trial with Zamalek Whites give trials to four new players despite uncertainty over future of domestic football league in Egypt
Zamalek is hosting four foreign players on trial, including two Brazilians. "The four players are Leonardo, 30, who plays as a striker for Brazilian team Santo André and his 22-year-old countryman, attacker Ronaldo," the Whites revealed in a statement on their official website. "The technical staff is also monitoring former Valencia and Villarreal B-team striker Angel, and Louai Adel who currently plays in France," they added. The news comes amid uncertainty over the future of the club's Portuguese manager Jorvan Vieira who failed to show up for work last week. The 59-year-old, who took charge of the team last August on a two-season contract, didn't return to Cairo after a friendly tournament in the UAE. His absence sparked rumours he will resign. The Egyptian Premier League, which has been postponed since last February because of the Port Said disaster, is due to resume on 2 February. However, security concerns remain after Saturday's verdict in the Port Said disaster trial led to protests which have killed dozens in the coastal city.
