Egypt and Arab Contractors midfielder Mohamed El-Nenny seems close to joining countryman Mohamed Salah at Basel after impressing the Swiss team's head coach Murat Yakin. Yakin has hailed El-Nenny, saying that he will monitor him during the club's 12-day winter training camp that will start in Spain on Monday. "What we've seen of him has impressed us," Yakin was quoted as saying by Swiss media on Saturday. The 21-year-old midfielder headed to Switzerland after featuring in Egypt's 3-0 friendly loss to Ghana in the United Arab Emirates on Thursday. This means he will not be available for the Pharaohs' second friendly against Ivory Coast on Monday. El-Nenny, who shined with the Egypt during the U-20 World Cup in 2011, earned a place in the team's senior squad under American coach Bob Bradley, who has heaped praise on the central midfielder. Mohamed Salah, the former teammate of El-Nenny at Arab Contractors, has joined Basel from the Egyptian outfit last summer. Salah, 20, has made a superb start to his Basel adventure. He has scored four goals in all competitions so far and created many goals for his teammates, making the most of his dribbling skills and darting runs down the flanks.
